Track your child’s development

As your toddler grows into a pre-schooler and then a pre-adolescent, you will be sure to want to continue to track your child’s development through the ages. The Birth & Baby child tracker will give you general guidelines to help you keep pace with your child’s milestones.

5 stages

4 to 12 years

Stage 1 of 5

4 - 5 years

By about four or five years of age, your child will have doubled his or her birth length and can name most colours.

Stage 2 of 5

5 - 6 years

Your child may be able to write some letters of the alphabet, and he or she can draw people with distinct body parts.

Stage 3 of 5

6 - 8 years

Your child can bounce a ball 4-6 times and will start to learn to tell the time.

Stage 4 of 5

8 - 10 years

Your child has a well-developed sense of humour and a strong sense of what’s right and wrong.

Stage 5 of 5

10 - 12 years

Over these three years, your daughter’s weight will on average increase from 34 to 41 kilograms, and your son’s from 31 to 39 kilograms.
