Approach and midwifery style

Welcome and thank you for choosing Protea Nursing Services for your care! We are a private nursing and midwifery practice. We aim to provide excellent nursing and midwifery services to our clients, to meet their individual needs.

I always knew that I wanted to be a midwife. Before I even started my journey to become a nurse the whole process of childbearing held a special place in my heart. When I finally trained as a midwife it just affirmed what I had always known, my place was at the family’s side when you bring new life into this world. It is a very sacred time in a person’s life, whether you are starting a new family or becoming parents again for the fifth time. It remains a blessing and should be treated with attention to detail, individualized care and sensitivity. I trained at the University of Johannesburg and received a Bachelors Degree in Nursing with qualifications in the fields of midwifery, community nursing and psychiatric nursing. I then did my community service as a midwife at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital after finishing my training. It was through my own experience during my first pregnancy that I fell in love with Genesis Clinic and eventually to work there as a staff midwife. I have been fortunate to have had both my children at Genesis. It was through my experiences as a mother and a midwife that I wanted to go into private practice, to give others the same positive experiences that I had during my journeys into motherhood. I believe that you are the captain of the boat and should be well informed throughout your pregnancy, to make educated choices for you, your family and your baby. As a team we will work together to strive towards a positive experience throughout the pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond.
